ABOUT US

We are a Non-Profit Organization created for women by women.

Her Haven Of Light, Inc. is a place of hope, secured in love, formed on faith, to land in freedom. We have a heart and passion to serve women and want them to know they’re never alone and have others who will meet them where they are without any judgement.

Crystal and Susan are the Founders and Co-Executive Directors of Her Haven of Light. Both of them come from different backgrounds of rape, domestic violence, and teenage pregnancy. After overcoming the many obstacles that met them along the way, they knew that they couldn’t just leave it at that. They felt a huge pull and calling from God to put action behind the things they’ve been through and help others going through the same or similar situations. They both know that we aren’t meant to go through life alone as well as know the importance of meeting others where they are. Crystal and Susan both hope that they can make a difference in the lives of these women to help them walk in freedom despite their circumstances.

Susan obtained a Certificate in Biblical Counseling at Southeastern Theological Baptist Seminary School. She is excited to begin the journey of Biblical Counseling as she helps women find freedom through the Word of God and all of His spoken and written promises! Susan’s heart is to meet women exactly where they’re at despite their past or current circumstances. She knows the importance of having supportive women in her life to help through challenging times. During her teenage pregnancy, there were women that met her with no judgement to help support her any way that they could and always point her back to Christ. At the age of 16, she was sexually assaulted and instead of reaching out for help, she chose to keep what she had been through to herself. Because of that, she wasn’t able to heal, making the damage even worse. By the strength that only God provides us with, she’s found that talking and working through these situations are what help the healing process begin. Susan wants to be that person for women who are struggling and going through tough situations. To be a listening ear and help direct them to the specific resources they need. Looking back, she would do things differently by speaking out so that someone could have been a listening ear for her. She is here to encourage you to seek out help with the right resources because it can make such a huge difference on your physical and mental health. Seeking out help begins the healing process and healing is essential in difficult situations like this.

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. Psalm 9:9-10.

Crystal has a desire to fill a gap for ladies seeking and needing more in the community. She knows there is a need for those to reach out their hands to help and what better way to do that than to meet woman right where they are. There are many resources women may not have access to, but she wants to make sure that they obtain what they need so they can begin to heal. She is a survivor of domestic violence, as a child which then led her into following those same generational curses as an adult. She knows first hand the affects it has on your life and on your family. Through God she has been able to break that chain and found freedom. It’s not an easy journey but because of faith she has been able to see Gods provision through it all. Living in shame, guilt or fear is something she hopes to help women release so they are able to live in the fullness they were created for. She has a passion to serve women so they are able to feel the same weight be lifted not only for themselves but for generations to come. She was also a teen mom and experienced first hand the difficulties that it can bring. From living through both of these and many more obstacles in life she has a mission to bring forth hope and restoration to those she meets. She wants those around her to feel loved no matter their background, or current circumstances.  She knows that through her own experiences, God will transform as He takes the hurt and shame of life’s difficulties. She believes relationship is key. When women have been hurt it takes us awhile to trust. More than anything she wants this to be a safe haven for women in the community to help women to begin to believe in themselves as well as others. Forming healthy relationships and setting healthy boundaries. She knows that truly God can make beauty from ashes.

God will bestow on you a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Isaiah 61:3-7
