MISSION

Providing women in unforeseen circumstances a safe place to land with the resources they need to get back on their feet.

Her Haven is a Resource Center that serves the women of Johnston County. It’s a safe place for women to land to get the resources and directions they need to flourish. We assist without enabling through extending our hands in love and offering a hand up to help them form a plan of action and find hope again.  We provide a healthy, loving and sincere place of refuge to help bring restoration and peace to those in need. This resource center is here to empower women to walk in confidence as they thrive in their today and find freedom in tomorrow.

We are not an emergency shelter and do not have shelter or transitional housing at this time. If there are other needs, please contact us and we will get back to you within 24-48 business hours.

RAPE

60% OF RAPE VICTIMS DON’T REPORT IT TO THE POLICE. 1 OUT OF 6 WOMEN HAVE BEEN THE VICTIM OF RAPE. 75% OF DATE AND ACQUAINTANCE RAPE INVOLVE ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE BY THE ASSAILANT. FOR THAT REASON, WE WANT TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT THERE THAT ITS NOT THEIR FAULT, NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT LIE BEHIND IT. THEY’RE NOT GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE AND IT’S OKAY TO REPORT IT.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

ON AVERAGE 20 PEOPLE PER MINUTE ARE PHYSICALLY ABUSED BY AN INTIMATE PARTNER IN THE UNITED STATES. DURING ONE YEAR THIS EQUATES TO MORE THAN 10 MILLION PEOPLE. EVERY 9 MINS IN THE US SOMEONE IS ASSAULTED OR BEATEN. INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE ACCOUNTS FOR 15% OF ALL VIOLENT CRIMES. YOU ARE ALLOWED FREEDOM AND DON’T HAVE TO LIVE IN SHAME.

TEEN PREGNANCY

3 IN 10 AMERICAN GIRLS WILL GET PREGNANT AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE AGE TWENTY. THAT’S NEARLY 750,000 TEEN PREGNANCIES EVERY YEAR. PARENTHOOD IS THE LEADING REASON THAT TEEN GIRLS DROP OUT OF SCHOOL. LESS THAN 2% OF TEEN MOMS EARN A COLLEGE DEGREE BY THE AGE OF THIRTY. FOR THIS REASON WE WANT TO BE THEIR DRIVING SUPPORT.

HOMELESSNESS

ACCORDING TO A 2018 POINT-IN-TIME SURVEY, MORE THAN 216,000 WOMEN ARE HOMELESS ON A GIVEN NIGHT IN THE UNITED STATES. 8.3 WOMEN EXPERIENCE HOMELESSNESS PER 10,000 PEOPLE IN THE GENERAL POPULATION.
